A domain registry (or domain name registry) is a database of all domain names registered in a top-level domain or second-level domain extension. A domain registry has control over granting domains within a certain Top Level Domain space (TLDS’s), such as generic domains like .com, or .org, or Country specific ones (ccTLD’s) like .ca.
