Server Gated Cryptography (SGC)

Server Gated Cryptography or SGC is a type of SSL certificate that protects users with old browsers at the server level by forcing older browsers to increase, or "bump up" from 40/56-bit encrypted web sessions to 128-bit/256-bit. Also see the Thawte whitepaper on Secure Gated Cryptography (SGC) SSL Certificates .
