SSL Certificates: Getting Started

SSL certificates use a high rate of encryption to provide secure communication for technologies including web servers and mail servers. Secure communication is important when transmitting sensitive information often including user names, passwords, credit card details and business data. Transmitting this data in an unecryted connection opens up the possibility of the data being intercepted by a 3rd party.

SSL certificates are issued through a Certificate Authority (CA) which when issued, validates the domain or company the certificate was purchased for providing a trusted connection to the service. DOMAINScanada.ca offers ssl certificates only from trusted CAs including Symantec, Geotrust, Thawte, RapidSSL and Comodo. Purchasing an ssl certificate issued from a trusted CA provides hassle free setup without the risk of having to manually add trust to the CA.
